How to Move Your Reading List from Pocket to Hutch

Pocket shut down on July 8, 2025. Your saved articles aren't gone. Here's how to bring them into Hutch.

Step 1: Export your Pocket data

Pocket offered an HTML export before it closed. That file contains all your saved URLs and titles. Got it already? Skip to Step 3.

Step 2: Install the Hutch browser extension

You need the extension to save articles going forward. Pick your browser:

Step 3: Import your articles

A Pocket import tool is in development. For now, you have two options:

  • Save articles one at a time with the browser extension. Click the Hutch icon on any page you want to keep.
  • Send your export file to hutch+migrate@hutch-app.com. Include the HTML file from Pocket. I'll migrate your articles by hand.

Step 4: Check your articles

Open your reading list and spot-check a few entries. Titles and URLs should match what you had in Pocket. Something missing? Reply to the import confirmation email and I'll sort it out.

About AI summaries

Hutch generates a short AI summary for each saved article. After import, summaries appear as each article is processed. No action needed on your end.
